Spot light this week:

Painting for the art show!

The children have been painting pictures for our exhibit
entitled "Petite Picassos".

Painting is an activity that is both fun and educational for children.
Through painting they can express their ideas and emotions, they can use their senses,
explore color, trail and error, cause and effect and boost self pride.
Pictures are also the beginning of literacy. It is through pictures that stories emerge.

The paintings the children created for the show will be on display at the
Hendrick Hudson Free Library
for the entire month of February
during library hours.

The reception was on
Sunday, Feburary 5, and was absolutely wonderful!
Thank you all for stopping by. It was so touching to see how
proud they were! Pictures will be up next week.

Mission Statement

It is our mission at Sunset Nursery School to provide enriching educational opportunities in a safe, nurturing and faith-centered environment. The curriculum will include social interaction, intellectual and creative stimulation, moral and spiritual direction and physical and emotional development. A strong emphasis is placed on supporting each child's God-given talents and individual needs, while preparing them for their educational journey.

Sunset adheres to the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is a member of the Childcare Council of Westchester. All teachers are Early Childhood certified. All teachers and aides are certified for CPR and First Aide with a pediatric component.
