Spot light this week:
Painting for the art show!

The children have been painting pictures for our exhibit
entitled "Petite Picassos".

Painting is an activity that is both fun and educational for children.
Through painting they can express their ideas and emotions, they can use their senses,
explore color, trail and error, cause and effect and boost self pride.
Pictures are also the beginning of literacy.  It is through pictures that stories emerge.

The paintings the children created for the show will be on display at the
Hendrick Hudson Free Library
for the entire month of February
during library hours.

The reception was on
Sunday, Feburary 5, and was absolutely wonderful!
Thank you all for stopping by.  It was so touching to see how
proud they were!  Pictures will be up next week.

"Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
-Pablo Picasso

 Frequently Asked Questions
  • Why choose Sunset?
Because our experienced and educated staff is dedicated to getting your child ready for their educational journey using fun and innovative techniques. The preschool years are so important to a child's development. Confidence and self esteem are key components in a child's education and at Sunset, we value each child's uniqueness and individual accomplishments. Come in to visit and you will see why we are confident that your child will flourish at Sunset. We communicate frequently with our local kindergarten teachers to make sure our children are entering kindergarten with the skills they need to succeed.

  • What are your teacher-to-student ratios?
We are proud to provide the children of Sunset with a remarkable student/teacher ratio! Our two year old class is 8:2. Our three year old classes are 14:2 and our four year old classes are 16:2. Every class has a teacher and an aide, along with the assistance of the director during center time and circle time. Smaller ratios are important in a learning environment to support each child's personal strengths and foster self-esteem.

  • Can I visit the school during school hours?
Yes, we strongly encourage and welcome you to come see the environment that we've created and observe the children as they work and play. You are welcome to stop in at any time.

We have a program for two, three and four year old children. Each age group has their own classroom and share the centers in the community room.

  • Does my two year old have to be potty trained?
No, however, we will help you with this process by encouraging and supporting their training.

Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.'" (Matthew 19:13-14)
