Spot light this week:
Painting for the art show!
The children have been painting pictures for our exhibit
entitled "Petite Picassos".
Painting is an activity that is both fun and educational for children.
Through painting they can express their ideas and emotions, they can use their senses,
explore color, trail and error, cause and effect and boost self pride.
Pictures are also the beginning of literacy. It is through pictures that stories emerge.
The paintings the children created for the show will be on display at the
Hendrick Hudson Free Library
for the entire month of February
during library hours.
The reception was on
Sunday, Feburary 5, and was absolutely wonderful!
Thank you all for stopping by. It was so touching to see how
proud they were! Pictures will be up next week.
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

The Sunset Parents group offers a chance for parents to be more involved in their child's preschool life. This group was formed with the intention of raising funds to provide extra facilities and activities for the children that are not normally provided with the school's own resources. We would also like to allow for better communication among the parents from all of the classes.
Members are not expected to do more than they are able, and can volunteer for only the jobs that they feel best equipped to do. This can range from co-organizing an event like the school tag sale, to baking brownies for a bake sale. Helping with events is not limited to just parents, as we would love to have grandparents, aunts and uncles as well. We are always grateful for any suggestions and ideas you may have for raising funds.
Last year we raised close to $900 which helped us build our new park in the back of the school. This year, our goal is to buy a new divider for the four year old classroom. Together, we've found no task is too big to accomplish.
